Dad says 2 breeds... I'm frantic to find the perfect breed of bantam :?

There's a gentleman in Idaho ,a consummate professional , who breeds Bantam White Chanteclers. they do very well in cold weather . probably not the bird for the Southern California desert.
He has won Grand Champion of Show with them.
Best,
Karen

I have heard they do great. I know someone who owns them. He loves em'. But I like these better. No resistance!

Pick something black or white with simple plumage pattern. Or just plain color black or white. I read an article by an expert that says black or white birds win most often at the shows.

Penciled , barred, and buff birds are very tough to get the the color right. if you choose this, make sure you get your birds from the very top Quality vintage line. a line that has been line bred for many generations to form a stable gene pool, so the color will be correct.
Same goes for the red in a Rhode Island red. if you choose this, you want Birds from the very classic lines. one of them is Bob Blosl's line. Bob has passed away now, but several people have his Birds.

There is an old thread with a lot of wonderful information called" The Heritage Bantam fowl" thread here on byc . take a look at it and read it. it should introduce you to a lot of top breeders.
