darkening of combs/waddles (illness or stains from pomegranates)

    My hens seem perfectly healthy except they all have darkening areas only on the front of their combs and waddles. I did think I'd heard a sneeze sound a few times, but nothing much. One of my hens hasn't laid an egg in a week, so I started searching for reasons. Now I am a little worried. I have been feeding them pomegranates lately so I assumed that was what it was from. It makes sense that they color would cause dark staining. I really examined them and just can't tell. There is no staining of their beaks.

    Any thoughts?

    I have also noticed something similar to this. One of my hens has had a black spot on her comb at one of the tips, and she makes weird Sneezing/wheezing noises sometimes. Any ideas?
