I'm sure many of you have had this happen, but it's a first for us. We were cleaning up the brooder and taking out the trash at dusk this evening. I heard a funny noise at the screen door, looked out, and there was our lonely 8wk old BR, standing outside looking in and scratching at the door! She was also trilling as if to say "Come tuck me in!" Nearly fell over my feet to scoop her up and cuddle. DD came running and snatched her out of my arms, took her to the coop and "tucked her in" with the heat lamp (cool, damp and windy this evening) and a yogurt and bread crust bedtime snack. DH just stood on the porch with his mouth open shaking his head in wonder. So which is more pathetic? The chook or us?

Wrapped... warped... hhmmm.. DD says "feathers are like fur on a stick". Wisdom from 11yo. Never thought of it like that before.

How precious!!! I went out tonight to see my 8 week olds and they ALL came at me at once. Hannibal of course was pecking at everything on me, but the rest wanted cuddles.

Today I cut up some american cheese singles and my chickens just went berserk. They loved it.

Hope it doesn't constipate them!
