Hello,

We started two incubators 22 days ago, the first with 10 eggs, the second with 16. 7 of the chicks have hatched successfully from the first incubator over the last three days, I removed the chicks to
the brooder this morning and now one more is pipping and zipping quite nicely.

For the other incubator, I am pretty sure I heard chirping Saturday/Sunday middle of the night, ie. 44 hours ago, (incubator is in our room so cats don’t get at it) but now have heard nothing since then and there seems to be no movement, pipping, nothing from any of the 16 eggs. What are your thoughts on how to proceed?

Thanks for any wisdom you can share!

That incubator may not be as accurate and running a little bit lower temp than the other one was. Even a half of a degree could cause a later hatch.

I agree to candle them and see to be sure.

When all done, I'd get a hygrometer/thermometer and verify the temp of the incubator.

Thank you. I will candle them this afternoon. I am looking for a completely dark area and then the light air sac that should be near the point, correct? Anything else?

Yes. Their air sack is at the pointy end. You most likely will see movement but if not, they could be resting up or just too squished in there to move much.

Ok, 15 out of 16 were 2/3 to 3/4 dark with air sac mostly on the round end though with two at pointy end? I put them back in incubator and increased humidity. Next steps?
