One of Tukens - cute little Naked neck came out the shipping box with a good deal of dried and fresh blood around her neck.
I have cleaned up a little but but didn';t want to cause the chick more stress.
I'm keeping her in the shipping box w/in the brooder, she has water and is drinking.
btw the chicks got here this morning.
what is the best way to
1 clean her up - dried blood, she no longer bleeding
2 keep the chicks from pecking at her again.
thanks
sorry some of the pic are fuzzy!

You'll have to keep her in a separate brooder or the other chicks can pick her to death out of curoisity. It can be the start of a bad habit. Some neosporin or blue kote may help the wound heal, while the blue kote can help disguise the wound.

Thank you,
I have set her up in her own brooder w/in a brooder <G>

she is not all that "thrilled" would rather be with friends but she is eating and drinking.
this should at least work for a day or 2, I will see how fast she heals.

it looks much better this morning.
it does not seem swollen or hot.
