Day Old Gender/ Breed- Yellow, Red, and Black

Okay, I know it's too early AND I have barnyard hybrids, but just for giggles, any guesses on sex? Or what they will look like when they are older?

I only have three- a yellow, a red, and a black that all came from brown eggs.

The roo is barred- can't decide if he is a Cuckoo Marans or a BSL.
BO, RIR, EE, BSL, WL are the possible hens.

Very cute, but yes, much too young to sex. I think it is probably that the father is a BSL rather than a cuckoo Marans, because you would likely get black chicks with white spots if the father had two genes for barring.

The only way you'd be able to tell is if the cross is right for getting sex-linked chicks - since I've never raised them, I wouldn't know. You would also have to track exactly which hen the chicks came from. Someone here will be able to tell you if there is any chance that this is the case!

Post photos in six weeks and we might be able to tell you a bit more then

I have no idea but I think the brown one will be a roo and the other two girls. Now we wait to see if I'm right ….

That cross will not work for sex links. A red rooster over a barred hen is the cross that makes black sex links.

Our silkie rooster got more action than our head rooster who is a large fowl cochin (and you would have never known it until we hatched the chicks). Do not underestimate the bantam roosters
