DBF finished his first electric car!

Pics, white papers & schematics please.

Within the next few years I hope to find a little MG convertable
and convert it.

The American car companies, actually the global car companies, don't
make electric cars for a number of reason. One is planned obsolecence.
Electric cars don't wear out like regular cars. Another is the oil companies,
opec, and all the other money that controls the auto companies.

How about the fact that a huge amount of tax is charged on every gallon
of gas? Part of it funds highways and roads while the other funds
politicians pockets. Electric cars don't generate those taxes.

There is also the lack of market demand. Electric cars are and have been
available but people just don't buy them. Gas at $2 kills it.

Anyone wonder why gas fell back to $2??? At $5 and oil at $140 a barrel
alternates started catching on. Watch how fast they fall off now.

How much are they going to ask for the Rav4? Kudos to DH for a cool project.

They're hoping to get around $40-45K for the RAV-4. (insert collective gasps, I know...

). I can't post pics or schematics until DBF sayss it's OK. Their work is curtting edge in lots of ways and they don't want the world to see it until they're good & ready.

Not the PR approach I'd take, but I digress.

Their next vehicle may be a 2009 Toyota Rav-4. With all the various state & federal tax breaks, it's only about a $5-7K difference to do a newer car that would remaind under Toyota's warantees. They're also seeking EPA certification for their micro-manufacturing, which would enable them to claim EPA clearance. Cool huh?

To be honest, I don't know much about the project, other than that it takes up sooo much of DBF's time & energy. I'll be glad to see it done and SOLD so that we can have a little bit of money again. I'm tired of not having any discretionary income!

There is actually a whle documentary film out there about the killoff of the amazing EV-1. I will try to think of the name. Or Wikipedia that.

Yay for your partner! That is so cool!

Anyone here driving a greasecar?

Very cool. 45-50k isn't that bad if it's well made. I completely
understand not wanting to divulge trade secrets too.

I wish ya all the best on your venture.
