A lady in Washington DC has chickens on a too-small lot and is trying to get an ordinance passed that will allow chickens only if
1. 80% of the neighbors provide written consent AND
2. no neighbor objects.
I'm thinking this isn't a good idea -- I've posted a comment (it only allows anonymous comments for some reason, but the first comment is mine) but everyone else who is posting seems to think this is a fantastic idea. I'm hoping some other folks will go post comments, too, as I sort of hate to see them fighting for an ordinance that will pit neighbor against neighbor and leave chicken-keepers at the mercy of their neighbors.
Her blog post about it is here.
The proposed ordinance is here. (notedf)
