DE into water for chickens?

I just got a big bag of DE from the feed store and am so excited for all of its said benefits. My question is...can I just mix it in with the chickens water instead of in their feed? It seems like that would be so much easier (to me anyway)...scoop, stir, done. If yes, where do I find a table for amounts? Thanks...looking forward to fewer flies, which always seem to find their way into the house!

DE loses its effectiveness in water in many ways- one pound per 50 pounds of feed can be mixed in, though, and I put it down when I clean the coop.

what does DE in feed do for the chickens. I use it in the coop and runs, I also use it in my garden. but in the feed?

Nothing at all.

It's a mechanical "insecticide" that only works when dry​
