Dead Chicken!!

When I went to collect eggs yesterday afternoon there was a hen dead in her nest box. She was out in the morning, then dead by 3:30. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might happen. Every not and then a HUGE egg will be in the nests. Is there a possibility that this may have killed her??? Thanks for any input.

Sorry that happened to your hen, she could perhaps gotten egg bound or it could have been various other things. What do you feed your chickens and did you notice anything that might give us more to go on.. like how was her poo, color of it etc. Did she act her normal self or anything strange etc. Best wishes

Did she seem to be different the last few days? Eating, not eating? Hanging in a corner droopy like?

Maybe she just had a heart Attack on the nest and passed quickly.
