My oldest Welsummer hen died this morning, she was fine last night. Found her next to the fence and around her it was green bile vomit. Could a rat take her out? She is pretty good sized, healthy and big. All the other chickens are fine and healthy.

Not sure if my DD was feeding her dyed classroom hard boiled egg. I am stumped what it could have been. It would not happened to be poisoned that fast because it was last night she played with the egg.

We do have problems with sewer rats. City cats would not attempt to get inside the run.
And there was a dead robin in my driveway early this morning too. There were NO wounds or blood on both birds.

Me too! She was about two and half years old, I think. She was the talkative one every morning to great me.

On the happy side of things, I can get more Welsummers to replace!!!! I hate the waiting time from hatching to laying.
