I have two roosters, one very protective and one like a hen. They are getting louder and I'm going to have to get rid of one eventually probably soon. I love them both. And I can't decide which one to give away. One is dominant and protective of the hens, and the other is cuddly and like a fifth hen. They both are loving and sweet, but the dominant one has some moods. I need to make a decision before our neighbors make us get rid of both! So I was wondering, which one would you give away?

Hi there, [IMG] and welcome to BYC!

I would keep the gentler rooster. Roosters can turn on you. Not all of them, but if one of them is already acting moody, I would rehome this rooster. Keep the more gentle bird.

Good luck with your flock and enjoy BYC!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X2 what TwoCrows said, if one of the roosters is already iffy temperament wise with you, place him first.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna find a home for the dominant one. I put him on a thread labeled Free Polish Rooster.

Welcome to BYC. Good luck with the roosters - the subordinate will soon express his 'true' personality - hopefully he will remain mellow after the dominant is gone.
