Does anyone have one of those dental plans where if you join, you pay lower prices at participating dentists. Is it all they say it is? This last dentist I went to gave me an estimate of $8600!!! I think every tooth in my mouth needs something. Except for the upper right side. The dental plans I've looked at quote about 1/2 that amount, but I'd like to know about add ons.

    I'm crushed.

Bottom right molar, 6th tooth comes to 2k!!! Pulling it- $126.00 + 8 more crowns. Which leaves 9 naked teeth out of 26.[IMG]

I took a Cigna plan that has dentist in the area that agree to the lower price that you will pay. However, I think I've had enough and may go for partials. I can't see doing some of these teeth over for $800 a pop , and then do it again in a few years.

If a dentist is in network with a particular ins. Co., they have to "write off" what that company will not pay, most offices will still file with other ins.companies as a courtesy and what the ins. Doesn't pay, the balance is due from the patient. Of coarse, you and I could have the same insurance company, but policies could be written differently.

Just curious, have you been going to the same dentist for a while and changed because of insurance?

In this area,BCBS does not pay out very well, and therefore offices don't like to participate with them. Just a thought.

My dentist loves BC/BS dental and other recognizable insurance companies. They paid 100% of the services after write offs and no co pays on regular visits.
