i found a cornish X a little listless and with a swollen eye this afternoon, so i decided to butcher it. it only took about 15 minutes, was way easier than i thought.

here is the million dollar question...i gutted and i don't know if i got the crop out!

does it pull out with the intestines? i got everything that was in the cavity out. am i clear to eat now?

please help soon as she is in the fridge ready to get cut into frying pieces!

If she was eating anything that day it would be very easy to tell if you pulled the crop out. Sometimes it doesn't come out with the intestines. Cut just below where the crop would be, don't go too far so you don't cut the crop, and you should be able to pull it out that way.

so, if i looked inside the cavity, though i would see it, right? (and yes, she ate and i saw the food and poop.) it isn't nearly as stinky as i thought. i prepared for wanting to hurl, including a bucket! but, thank God it was not necessary![IMG]
