We've had three days of non-stop rain and 26 degree below normal temperatures. One of my little OE pullets was missing tonight and I found her in the chicken yard, dead.
She was just laying on her side, not a scratch on her. She had muddy tail and wing feathers and she looked as if she had been wet.
I've had little chicks drown in the rain. This girl is no baby chick, but still really small since she's an OE. I guess driving cold rain can be detrimental to anyone that small regardless of age.
Do you think she drown?
Now I only have three OE's left, but one is setting on a nest, but those baby's will be crossed with EE!
