My little silkie is hatching her first eggs. She has been sitting on 5 eggs and today is day 19. Yesterday morning I had noticed a pip in one and went back to check on it later that day to find no further pipping. I was a little concerned so I just checked it again (a day and a half after the first pip) to find that the egg was gone. The only sign of it was a tiny egg shell. She's in the house and secure from predators so it wasn't taken by something else. One of the other eggs had what looks like yolk splattered on it.

I think that perhaps it was a bad egg and she ate it. Do they get rid of bad eggs in that way?
