dirt in the scales

hello

my chickens were suffering with scaly leg mites, I think i put to much vaseline on them because now it looks like they have dirt stuck in the places where their scales are open!


Can this hurt them? or is it just smothering the mites even more?

I tried to wash out the dirt by using soap and water but it did nothing!

Anyone know what i should do? thanks so much guys

I would hazard a guess that dirt will bother them less than the mites.

Hi,
I also applied Vaseline to my chickens legs. How can I was it off from the silkies dirty underbelly feathers or should I just wait until the feathers come off? My silkie is white (or used to be).

If you want to get the dirt from under the scales take a toothbrush and carefully scrub the scales underneath.
