my serama hen hatched out 3 chicks a week ago and this morning one was gone. there is no way in or out of the broody cage. could mom have eaten one of her own chicks?

Is the chick stuck under the mother's wing? Sometimes when you lift a hen the chicks are caught among the feathers. [IMG]

If there's no way in or out, could you have accidentally counted one chick twice? Or maybe when you were opening the cage one hopped out on you somehow? [IMG]

Well.. that is beyond weird. And none could have hopped out on you? Hmm.. then it's in there somewhere. I've never heard of a hen eating one of her babies. Must be wearing some weird chicken camo, lol
