Well my dad went to go check on one of our rental homes that these people have been living in for 2-3 years now, and my dad hasn't seen the inside since they moved in. He went to go check on them the other day and went inside the place was horrible. The trash piled up to your knees and he went to the basement and dog poop matted a inch thick all over the carpet (the same dog my dad had told him to get rid of because it was tearing up the backyard and jumping the fence and so they hid it in the basement and it used it for a doggie litterbox). There were fleas and flies and the backyard doesn't have one blade of grass. My dad keeps telling him to stop parking his cars on the back porch because it will crack it but he keeps doing it anyway. The backyard is full of junk that more than likely they will not clean any of this up and just pack up and leave and we'll be stuck cleaning it up. My dad told him to get the carpet out from downstairs ASAP and it better be gone and clean in the basement before his next visit. He bought a brand-new truck and can't even hardly afford the rent (its always late) and when my dad asked about the truck he said he'd had it for two years. He is such a bad liar! There is children living in this house! His wife is leaving him and he plans on moving. I feel sorry for the poor dog too! I think we should call animal control and childrens services its just plain unhealthy.

I'd sue for damages.......but thats just me....

I would too, but in many of these cases you just lose more money pursueing a deadbeat who cannot pay you off anyway. But, hey does your Dad want his truck?!

Call health services, they'll force them out, take the dogs & the kids. There is no excuse for living in filth, and the longer they stay there the worse the damage to the house will be. Expect health dept to red flag the house, which means no one can live there untill it's cleaned out. Then they have to go, and way faster than an eviction.

Edit:

And DO sue them for the damages including the clean up and such. When you win (take photos you will win) ask for a "wage garnishment" that means ANY time they get a paycheck or an IRS refund, etc you get a chunk of what they owe you. I friend just got her EX's tax refund as she garnished him for child support (guy's only 13 years behind right?). Any time they appily for a new house/credit check is run, it'll show up.

One year my niece's father was gloating that he was going to get a good tax refund to my niece's mom. She laughed in his face and told him that the IRS would send it to her for all the back child support. He found out she was right.

It's people like this that make it impossible for people with pets to rent anything anymore! They make me SICK! When we were renting this house - for nine years before we decided to buy it - we treated it as our own, as we did any other house we rented over the years. We landscaped, painted, fixed things that broke (unless it was something major, such as the dishwasher or septic pump), and just acted like it was OUR home. We never let our pets tear up anything and made sure they were well mannered and well behaved (crate training works wonders - duh!). I've never understood people that rent and then destroy the place they're renting. I figure if I have to live somewhere, I want it to be nice - rented or not... ARGH!!!

There was a house at the end of my block that had a situation like that. By the time the owner got them out, he had to have the house torn down. Personally, I think i could have saved it but I think he was so frustrated he just didn't want to be involved anymore.
