Hey all. So new to this site obviously but also new to everything else! Just bought our farm in February and am smack dab in the middle of clean up. Previous owners left the place a mess. But it's a diamond in the rough :) so it came with a Great Pyrenees and 13 barn cats and two more are preg :p anyhow got 8 chicks going so far (2 are copper marans, 2 austrolorps, and 4 unidentified  and planning on getting about 20 more buff Orpington anyhow we will be getting rabbits in in 6 weeks and will also be doing meat goats and quail soon. So to sum it up I'm a stay home mom of 3 girls and a homesteader. Husband works full time plus more so I am going to be here with a lot of questions :frow

I'm from Iowa too, as you can see. I have 23 chickens and 7 cats, though I want to be more self-sufficient in the future.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Wow, sounds like you are going to have a busy year! Congratulations on your new home and farm! Sounds like you have a nice little flock started, if you want to try and figure out what they are, you could post pictures on the What Breed Or Gender Is This forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this
Good luck dealing with all those cats, that sounds like a full time job alone.
You might also like to check out the BYC sister site, BackYard Herds, it has whole sections n goats and rabbits. http://www.backyardherds.com/
And the BYC Quail forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail
And don't forget to check out the BYC Learning Center, lots of good articles on all aspects of chicken keeping. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
And it is always fun to check out your state thread for chicken keeping neighbors https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/182/ia-here
