I have had my chickens for about a week,
And almost every time I go out there I get little bites on my ankles and knees.
Are these ticks, if not is there any other pest the could be doing this?

They very well might have mites. Ticks you would see far more readily.

If only on your ankles and knees I would think something in the grass or coop/run bedding.

Is it in a place you spent time hanging out in prior to having chickens?
More info on your birds and their housing might help ID the biter.

    What is your climate?
Putting your location in your profile can help folks give better answers/suggestions.

    Sure!
We live in Texas so it is very hot.
The chickens that we have outside currently are 2 Buff Orps.
We really didn't spend that much time at the location prior to our chickens.
    Hope this helped!

I heard y'all have stick tight fleas down there....they can infest chickens, but are around anyway....I think.
I'd ask someone from Texas, they must have a chat thread here.....and add Texas to your profile.[IMG]
