Do chickens eat ants?

It seems to me that ants are disappearing soon after I first notice them, out in my yard. I am attributing this wonderful development to my 6 hens. Am I justified in this assumption?
 
Mine like to eat ant larvae, but as far as the adult ants, not really. That's just mine though- yours may be different. I've heard guineas love them, one person told me his guineas will tear up a fire ant mound to get to them. I am now considering getting a couple of guineas!
 
When DH cuts our firewood, the hens always come and gobble up every last ant that falls out. Now they've learned to follow him to the woodpile.

When I found an anthill in the backyard, I moved our birds' coop so that the run was over it. I am pleased to report that there are no more ants in the backyard!

It was funny, they just stood there shooting their little heads downward like living harpoons.
