Do chickens loose feathers when they are stressed?

I went to a chicken show the other day and pretty much every chickens floor of their cage was coated in feathers. Is this normal for stressed chickens?

Hi

It's very normal for chickens to moult at this time of year in the northern hemisphere if they are over a year old and juveniles have slight moults too, so not unusual to see a lot of cast feathers in the show cages in autumn, just like there are a lot in my chicken coops and pens right now.
