Do chickens sleep with eyes closed?

That may seem like a weird queston, but I have never seen it happen, I just took some oatmeal out to my girls and I was sitting out in the sun watching them for awhile, and one of my barred rocks looks different she has her fethers all fluffed out and her eyes were closed, I almost had to get on my hands and knees to make sure, I have just never seen that. I was wondering is she sleepy and taking a snooz, or is she not feeling well?

Thanks Erica

Yes, they close their eyes. But if she is fluffed up, she may not be feeling well either. Keep a close eye on her. If she's just sleeping, she should appear fine the next time you check her.
