Do chicks need gro-gel?

I will be getting my chicks pretty soon and was wondering if I needed to use this stuff. Looks kind of scary to me. What do you guys recommend?

My chicks ignored it and started eating their chick starter and drinking water immediately. I'll never waste my money on it again.

We bought it last year with our group of chicks from McMurray. They just walked all over it. I don't think I saw a single chick eat any of it.

others swear by it. I'm not one of those.

Thanks a bunch! That's what I needed to know. I definately won't waste my money on that stuff. Hey, with the money I saved I could buy another chick or 2!!!!
