Mine are happy to hang near home, and I've never had one jump the fence. Perhaps run a short fence along the top until they get heavier?

i have some pens in my coop and once i get some wire for the pens im going to take the fence down. will they still stay if theres no fence. i have a mottled,2 partridges, and a standard white who have a thing for going far!

how much longer until they fill out and are fully mature. 6 months-to a year?

Mine always stayed within about 20 yards of the coop. The little guys can be less ambitious about their rambling if there's plenty to keep them busy close to home.
