Do crow collars work?

I am hoping to get a rooster but dont want it to be to loud. I was wondering if crow collars even worked?

They work by strangulation, so sometimes they work and other times they kill the rooster.

A have I don't even know how many Roosters and in my opinion they're really not that loud, a no crow collar sounds so inhumane. If you can't take the crowing I'd forego getting a rooster.

It will reduce the volume -yes, but one has to be careful when using it. I fitted one last week to my cock bird and yeah - there was less volume, but he still made enough noise on a night time for me to put him in the pot a couple of days ago.
