My hen has been laying eggs (her first time) every day for 5 days. Yesterday I checked the pen and there was no new eggs in the nest. Does that mean she is finshed or just on a break? Her and the drake are still getting it on daily if that matters any.

I am incubating 4 eggs right now and thought I would see if she would hatch the remainder (of however many she lays) but so far there is just the one lone egg. Temps may drop to -9 C over the next few days and I am wondering if I should just collect it and try to hatch it? What do you think?

My mallards would lay like crazy and then "take a day or so off". I think this is normal.

My SS chickens do the same thing... maybe it's an egg "union" thing..........

We have been getting 4 eggs a day from our 4 runners for over two weeks now! I'm sure they will take a break at some point, it's hard work making those eggs! What breed is yours?
