hey so my eggs hatched two months ago and turns out I have two females but they’re super loud and I’m afraid predators are all into them. They’re super skiddish the one especially. I felt like I handled them a good bit when they were little everyday they get picked up twice in and out of pen. Do they maybe want a male ? My last pair she wasn’t loud and the male appeared to be the watcher and protector he made more noise but males aren’t loud. Should I get a male and maybe they will be more quiet ? also I tried diapers for the first time and the extra loud one flipped out. Once again my last ducks did not act this crazy what am I doing wrong? I tried giving watermelon as treat after putting diaper on but they weren’t interested they just tried ripping diaper off. I put them back in cage with diaper for 5 mins I figured maybe each day just adding time and they’ll get used to it ? Thanks

What kind of diapers are you using? Are those comfortable for the birds? Why diapers? Ducks love to be outside! How do you know they're female at an age of 2½ months?
Lot's of questions, i know. Just post some pictures of them with their diapers on.
Oh I’m sorry lol we are still building they’re night house outside but they go outside in a pen all day morning until sundown then I bring them in and put in their dog cage in house. They’ve been so loud lately I feel like I’m not interacting with them enough it rains a lot here so I’m not outside much. Every few days we monitor a free range for about an hour they’re obsessed with free ranging and follow our turkeys around. I feel bad inside so I wanted to put diapers on them so they can walk around more since it’s been getting dark earlier and then they’re stuck in a smaller dog cage all night. I had these diapers for my other ducks for road trips they went with us to visit my family in philly I didn’t want to leave them behind lol. They one time went camping with us and everyone couldn’t believe we had ducks camping in woods lol i attaches the diaper pics. My old ducks would nip at the diaper for a minute and then stop but these two were freaking out

Could it be that the diapers are a little tight? - I am by no means an expert with duck-diapers! Just guessing…
I don't know how cold it is where you live, but would putting the dog-crate/cage into their pen be a temporary option? If they had their way, my Duckies would still sleep in the grass outside their home and it is forecasted to be in the upper 30's tonight.

I wish I i could but we live very rural area we have raccoons weasels bob cats foxes bears anything could get them break that cage open I’m sure... the diapers were falling off of them a little actually since they’re only 2 months old not fully grown. The diapers are the size of full grown Pekin Duck around 6lbs - I wana day they’re like 4 so they’re not too tight. I think these ducks are freaking out the one mainly and I think she gets the other one going. Webby isn’t too bad she is more quiet when I carry her versus Donald (thought she’d be a boy didn’t rename yet lol)

Oh and they are both honking quacking they’re not wraspy it’s really loud honk like my female before so I’m so certain they’re females
I had five Indian Runners, quacking at ~3 months old, considered myself lucky until after another 1½ months one of them started to wrasp. Another one does neither wrasp nor quack, he (i assume he) had an accident and is still limping. He is chirping like a duckling but is growing drake feathers… They are now ~6+ months old and i'm very sure who's what.

Omg ! So just because they’re quacking clucking nooises doesn’t necessarily mean female??? They sound just like my female duck I had though. Well I better wait then on getting another male. The one looks fatter and fatter face shorter beak I swore was going To be a male so now I’m wondering.
