Do Hens Ever Mount???

Hello,


I have a question here. Thanks for any responses in advance..
My supposed hen ( R.R.) is starting to mount my laying hens the R.R is approx 16 weeks old. Now I know in dogs girl and boy dogs will exhibit this behavior and it doesn't mean anything. Now with this being said is my girl a boy?????? If I need to I can go get some pictures tonight and post them tomorrow, for a more accurate answer.
I also wanted to say thanks to all for all your great knowledge, I have learned so much from BYC.

I don't know about the gender of your supposed hen, but I will say that my alpha hen (a red cap) has shown some mounting behavior with both my cochin and the crevecoeur hens a few times. She even tried it on our Polish rooster once while I watched in awe! All of the birds are 2 years old, and she is definitely the top of the pecking order. I think she was just letting the others know who is in charge.
