Do hens lay more than one egg a day?

Just a question from a newby. Will a single hen lay more than one egg per day normally?

A hen will not lay more than one egg a day. The hen holding the record for most eggs was a black australorp that layer 364 eggs in365 days!

I have had on 1 occasion in my 6 years of chicken keeping a Red Sex Link hen lay 2 eggs in 1 day. She layed the first egg early in the morning and the second egg was layed sometime that evening.

So yes it can happen, but only VERY rarely.
