I've only read of hens mounting other hens, supposedly to show domination, but I've never seen anything like that out of any of my female birds. You're pretty daggone confident that the bird in question IS a female???

Hens will mount hens absolutely. Have not seen it in my flock because crazy Jerry Lee more than takes care of them but have seen it in a friends flock that is rooster-less. Saw an EE get on top of Brahma twice in ten minutes.

I've never seen it amongst my own flock. My hens fight, but no mounting.

Funny you should post this today! This afternoon I witnessed one of our two year old golden comet hens mount a younger hen....twice. She is an aggressive " wanta be" alpha hen, but isn't! What breed is yours?

Yes I have seen it in two different hens myself. It is a show of dominance...nothing to worry about.

my dominent HEn has been knocked down a peg by my cockarel

and she sees him mounting the girls

he dont mount her as he still fears her

she is trying to get her pecking order top hen status back and is showing signs of trying to mount girls

but as she is almost 2 years old and never done it before she aint got a clue and fails to mount and slips off

My hen does it many, MANY times a day. I'm pretty sure she's a hen, too. She squatted ._.
