I have a tiny flock since the racoons got in the broken window. 2 boys and 3 girls. The Dorking went broody in Feb and since then I haven't found ANY eggs, even though the 2 Wyandottes were laying up to then.
Am I nutz, or is it possible that they quit laying when their "sister" starting sitting? They hover around her. Two days ago she hatched out 6 little fuzzballs, 3 of them are clearly Wyandottes. I've fenced the mom and babies off from the other adults, who hover around and pay a lot of attention.
Is it possible the Wyandottes quit laying, and will they start again now that the babies are hatched?
