So this little one is a single hatch & supposed to be from all splash pen (but obviously not).
This little blue marans is 8 weeks old.
I thought for sure boy when it grew tiny wattles and has a pink comb at 4 weeks old but now 4 weeks later they haven't grown or gotten any redder.
What do all you guys think?
If its a boy when should the saddle & hackel feathers be noticeable?

Eight weeks is too young for saddle or hackle feathers. I'm not seeing anything that screams cockerel, but Marans aren't a breed I've spent any time around.

What makes you think it's not splash? It looks a lot (color wise) like my splash orps at that age.

Looks like a pullet to me, I have marans and they tend to have bigger combs and wattles than other breeds... she is not a blue, not dark enough... I agree with HighStreetCoop, looks like a splash to me as well...

Why are her shanks not feathered? My BCMs cockerels have larger and redder combs at that age. I'm not sure if that applies to splashes.

Thanks :) Was really really hoping it was a girl & splash :)
Several people that saw pics said coloring was blue not splash that splash would be lighter/whiter.
Its my first marans so i have no idea/nothing to compare to.
Don't know why its legs arent feathered...splash parent pics all were feathered but purchased eggs on ebay didn't see them in person.

So what age will i see saddle /hackel feathers if its a boy
