Do i need to help this chick pip!!!???

ihave a 22 day old chick....last night he was pipped in the air cell...this afternoon he has tried to make a pip...it is just a slight star crack..no hole or anything to breath through!!....is he suffocating in there!?? should i break away some shell for him? HELP please..

its okay if hes just resting..what my concern is..can they suffocate in there? stupid question!...i know! but, thats what i am worried about!..

Just hatched our very first eggs tuesday and wedensday and we were doing the same thing wondering if they needed help, but they did it all on there own by instinct but it will take them some time some longer than others. GOOD LUCK

I was wondering about the same thing i was just wondering how long it takes them to get out ? i have one that is trying to get out also
