do most laying hens die on thier own?

We have 5 laying hens, 3 3 year and 2 2 year olds and I'm hoping they all live a few more years and die of old ahe or natural causes. What are other's experiences with when chickens die - do most die on their own or do most end up needing to be euthanized because they are sufferring?

I think it depends on the elements, their feed, etc. My girlfriend has an 8 year old chicken..................two and three year old chickens are not old................

Chickens can live to be 10 or older if they have no predator eat them.

In my case - predators eat them so Its kind of like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop.
