I am thinking of getting some naragansset turkeys. Some traits I want are broodiness and cold hardiness would these be the right birds

Mine are good for both. My three hens raised up and tended some nice poults last season and I have every reason to expect that they will do so again this year. Even the tom got in on the action looking out for the hens while they were on the nests and I caught him with some poults tucked under his wings some nights, too.

And, as mentioned, definitely cold hardy. They're pretty miserable if they get wet, but if it's just cold then they barely seem to notice at all (except their necks fluff up so it looks like they're wearing little patterned scarves).

Oh yeah, it's adorable. He acts all grumpy about it but you can tell he secretly enjoys it. What was really funny was the poults seemed to prefer him sometimes so there would be like four or five stuffed under him and one of the hens would only have one or none.
