I browsed the threads and couldn't find an answer to this, but it seems only my pullets (they'll all be hens next month) have full crops when they go to roost in the evening while my cockerel does not. I'm guessing this is normal, as he is very healthy (and a pain ). I've checked several times and the pullets are always full while his crop is almost difficult to palpate.
My thoughts were it is one of two things, or a combo:
A) he doesn't need to eat as much as a laying female
B) he is too busy protecting/breeding his flock to eat as much
Has anyone made similar observations?
