that silkies are mamas?
We lost a silkie and I bought one to replace her (for the purpose of having a mama chicken if I need). Well, I purposefully got her the same age as the youngest in the coop so she'd have someone to pall around with. Hubby said while he was back there today, all the young ones ran to her when the got scared because he was making a racket. Do they just know she is a mama?

That's interesting! Does she look a lot like your previous silky? I wonder if it's something in her personality.

Nope. Our previous silkie was red, this one is a partridge. The other girls I noticed even tried to sleep under her, and they are all three the same age. I don't know weird. Our other silkie mama'd everything that came into the coop.

She has been doing okay. I worry about her feeling over run. Yesterday I had my 10 day olds out and they all crowded her while she was taking a dust bath....she wasn't too happy about that, but neither was our old silkie (she needed some alone time and that was usually when it was).
