Hi! We've had an osprey that has lived at our pond for years, she comes back every year. I'm going to be getting a single pet/companion pigeon soon and plan on free flighting them (supervised, I would never have a single bird fly around without the protection of a flock). Our chickens have never been bothered by raptors, I never really see them near our home despite being in the woods away from urban areas, I'm kind of hoping it's because our resident osprey deters any falcons or hawks. We do have owls, but I don't worry about them because I'd only work with my pigeon during daytime and not dusk or dawn. Also a family of ravens, which are my main concern, but their territory seems to be further down the road and they only venture close to our home every now and then. Just so you know, my pigeon will be housed inside as a companion, I've done plenty of research and will raise them from a chick. So, can anyone confirm my hopes that this osprey is keeping away other raptors? Thank you!
