Do RIR hens EVER have tails like this?

I'm 95% sure this is a roo, but I don't have any other RIR's to compare him to. He's about 22 weeks old and not yet crowing or laying. Am I crazy to hold out any hope he might be a she?

My RIR roo is about the same age and not crowing yet. He can stay as long as he keeps quiet

I wonder if RIR's are often late to crow?

Oh boy. I just rehomed my RIR that looked EXACTLY like him. Look at his pointy, shiny hackle and sickle feathers, dark curving tail feathers...I don't know why he isn't crowing yet

Is he nice to your other hens?

I guess, deep down, I knew the answer. But darn it THIS was the chicken I got to replace my BO rooster! Arg. Grumble. He's a nice boy, I guess he can stay as long as he doesn't crow.

Maybe he doesn't crow because he was a latecomer to an established flock and is henpecked and low man on the totem pole.
