Do Roosters have any specific feed needs

That are different from hens? I just got my first rooster (a tiny little Japanese bantam or Serama someone threw over my fence) and I want to give him the best chance possible with my big girls.

I know hens need oyster shell and such, but do roosters have any differing nutrition needs?

Roosters need plain feed. Try all flock with the oyster shell on the side as layer feed is hard on roosters kidneys.

Got it. I only have layer feed at the moment. Looks like I'm off to buy plain feed! Do they need any extra protein or anything?

Just get all flock for them. It’ll cover all the bases and give your hens extra protein that they will love.
