Do roosters molt?

I've noticed a few lovely long tail feathers wilting in the dirt, Is my rooster molting? or could he be sad that i have him locked in the pen when he usually is freeranging?

Roosters molt. And the time of year is right. So that may well be what's going on.

Sorry he's losing his lovely tail feathers. He should grow fresh new ones in and look even better than before.

Two of mine are molting, one has lost all his tail feathers and looks awful!! I picked him up yesterday and checked him all over to make sure it is just molting. Yep, healthy and clean, just molting!
