So we got a flock from my school from one of those programs (we rescued them after they hatched as no one wanted them)
We have determined the breeds the program has are red Sussex, astrolorps, lohmen and leghorns. All the chickens were born within a week of each other my classroom was the one that has the hatcher
Our problem we have the White rooster who's been crowing and Mating for about 6 weeks. We have him in a crow collar in an effort to be able to keep him. Yesterday our speckled what we thought was a hen made a crowing noise. It was only in re morning and it does not sound like our rooster in any way. We have see it try to top the hen but doesn't get fair.
However our white rooster who crows and mounts the hens doesn't seem bothered which we think it weird. The White rooster doesn't peck or bother the other speckled possible rooster when he crows or when he tries to mount the hens (though speckles was not successful) the rooster just stood and watched.
We're just trying to work out if this means we have two roosters or if one of our hens is acting strange. The rooster had tried to mount the speckled one as well. Only one of our chickens has started laying eggs so we can't use that yet.
Also it took as a while to adjust the crow collar on our white rooster and we have just started seeing the speckled one crow since then. The rooster also heards that one like a hen and when yesterday we took out the speckled chickenwho was trying to mount a hen the rooster made a fuss and pecked us like he does when we moved the hens
I Will add some photos but Any thoughts?
