Or at least the one I wish I had! I have a soft spot for Danes, and I'd love to own one someday. Sketched this picture tonight because I was bored.

Nice sketch. We LOVE Great Danes if they're of good enough quality (not so skinny, sloppy, or feminine looking) I've raised and lived with 5 different Great Danes and loved all but one. . . But it was crossed with a Lab and I didn't actually own it or have it for long anyway.

Thanks everyone!

I love the regal look of danes, and their goofy personalities. The two we used to see at the vet's office were such giant lovebugs. The one was named Minerva and I could hug her all day. She was HUGE too. This is one dog I would love to save up a good amount of money to get one of good breeding.

I also love the pointed ear look, but I don't know that I would want it done to a puppy. I will have to do a lot of reading and talking to Dane owners before considering this though. At least I have plenty of time! LOL, I don't see myself getting a Dane for many years.

They are indeed the biggest doofs and lovebugs of all the dog breeds I've ever known, but the big problem with them is that they can be a TERRIBLE hearbreak. . . You really wouldn't want to know what it is like to love such a dog, then find out it has something like Wobblers. Horrible horrible thing. . . I've fallen so much in love with a Dane before, and after a while he developed Wobbler's. His pain, limping, and gradual "disability" got to the point where we just had to put him ddown. . . It was horrible.

Anyway, away from the sad story - They really are amazing dogs! One of my top 3 favorites.

Their life span and health issues are certainly a sad part of the breed. I figure I'd rather experience the short-termed companionship of a dog like this than never at all though! Although I'm sure it won't make it any easier to lose one at a young age or to some disease. We had a golden retriever as our first dog and she got cancer at 5. Definitely a heartbreaking thing to lose a good dog so young!
