If I breed a Ameraucana rooster to red Sussex hens, will their offspring lay colored eggs?

This is an old post but.... did you get green eggs?I don't see any reply that you did or didn't breed them ... this is what they look like when dad is a barred rock and mom is an Ameraucana... they're barred like dad but have fluffy cheeks like mom and the wide tail like mom. These are my hens. It is hard to tell in the photo their fluffy cheeks. They're not laying yet so I don't know the color eggs yet but I'm hoping for green as everyone says they will lay.
They will not likely repsond to you, due to post being old, but just as an FYI, a purebred Ameraucana crossed with any brown egg layer will result in some shade of green egg layer. This is an old post but.... did you get green eggs?

Barred rocks lay light brown eggs so crossing to a Ameraucana will give you light green eggs. You need a dark brown layer to produce "olive" eggsthey would lay olive colored eggs if the barred rock and ameraucana crossed
