Does anybody know how to sew by hand???

You tube is great for tutorials of all types. I would start there. I know how to sew by hand, but don't. 😆 I taught my boys how to sew a few stitches as well.

As for fabric, some walmarts sell fabrics. They have bargain bins. Joann's, Michael's, and hobby lobby have sales - you just need to keep an eye out. They all have clearance fabrics plus remnants can be purchased at bargain prices. Fat quarters (fabric cut into squares usually used for quilting) are sometimes a good section to look at for small projects.

What kind of projects are you looking to do?

I just wanted to know how to because I lije sewing
That's the best reason. I would start with you tube or other video outlets where you can watch tutorials.

When I was younger, I used to make craft like sewing projects on plastic canvas. That was quite fun and easy to do like these projects: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/plastic-canvas-patterns-4689157

Also, fleece is easy to sew on. Here are some beginner projects:

Some good ideas here (cute chicken project): https://www.marthastewart.com/11235...7512eb8c#ac2dfb93-c119-442b-94cf-d2ac7512eb8c

You might be able to find some cheap clothing that can be re-used from the goodwill. And remake the fabric into something else.
So many things can be done. If you were close by I would help and I have lots of scraps here. Is there anyone close by that you know is creative and works with fabric? They might be willing to teach you a few things.

Good luck! Show us some projects once you get started!

When hand sewing, keeping stitches even is important. It takes practice to learn to do that! Easy projects to start with are hemming pants, taking in sides of shirts or dresses, and maybe even taking in pants waists. Turning collars looks and sounds hard, but isn't. Try to look at your project and envision what you want it to look like, then make it happen!
