our brown leghorn hen layed this one yesterday
Wow, weird! It looks like there is no shell! We've had some weird ones too, but nothing like this.
We had an Ameraucana who suddenly started laying HUGE eggs, crazy big, a while back. We were so worried about her because we thought it must be painful! Eventually she did become egg bound (she was acting very lethargic and strange, and when my husband picked her up, she pooped out a broken egg!) but fortunately she recovered, and she's laid normal size eggs from then on.
We also had some very small, bullet shaped ones recently. The egg shape just suddenly changed among several of the breeds. But then we noticed an awful lot of feathers in the coop, and some raggedy looking hens... they were coming into their molt. So I'm guessing the egg change was due to this!
it has a hard shell on it but it looks like it calapsed on itself. the one you have there is huge too. i feel sorry for both of the hens
