Can anyone please help? Hello everyone. I'm new to BYC. I've heard so many great things about them recently, but from previous years, their reputation as the #1 Dual purpose meat/eggs production, over even the "Light Sussex", is something I'd like to do a field study on.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Where are you from? Based on your comments about Bielefelders and Light Sussex, I'm guessing that you aren't from the US; the UK perhaps? You might want to post on our Where am I? Where are you? section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/854028/where-am-i-where-are-you and locate others in your area who might be able to help you locate some Bielefelders. Also you might want to try posting on our Bielefelder threads at https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=bielefelders. When you reach 20 posts, you can also post on our Buy-Sell_trade section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/67/buy-sell-trade. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your Bielefelders.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! [IMG]

So glad you could join our community! Definitely follow the links that Michael has provided. And do some chatting in your state thread. Maybe one of your nearby poultry neighbors has what you are looking for.

Good luck and we do welcome you to our flock!

I see you have Houston under your avatar. I don't remember seeing that when I posted last night. Did you add it or was I just blind (it was late)? My wife and I were both raised in the great state of Texas, but in all my many years of living there, I don't remember anyone ever mentioning the reputation of Bielefelders and Light Sussex and I'm curious where you heard so many good things about them.

I am still learning via the internet. And very green (1 day old) with BYC. I'm still trying to figure out how it all works. That said, you are correct. I've added my location on my profile after the initial account set up.

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome. BYC is such a nice forum - a support line or helpdesk, if you will;) I'm glad I joined.
