Does anyone have Reindeer?

When we first started looking at a particular property that started us on the path to hunting for a farm, we were considering starting a Christmas Tree farm. Of course, reindeer just seemed like the perfect fit with the trees. We didn't get that property (not mortgagable per 3 different bank officers-we really tried! No central heat, unusual construction and no carpet on subfloor-yes, no carpet-killed that deal, still sad about it), but it started us wanting a farm. Some research lead us to find christmas trees arent really the best crop for us, so I can't say that we will ever have the reindeer (can't seem to even find a farm we want that the banks agree with either). I love them though, they are so cute! Since there seem to be some really unusual critters kept by members, I figured I'd see if anyone kept/bred reindeer...

Nope, Michigan's got the monopoly on Xmas Trees! At least we still have THAT industry!

Husband and I decided that if we ever had the acreage, we would do reindeer: antlers (art and carving), meat, hides, furs (wondefully insulating), milk, driving and even riding. We only have 5 acres now, mostly cedar swamp, so not any time in the near future.

We used to raise Reindeer, we sold them a few years.
